A recent analysis from The Beaumont Enterprise indicates that Texas’s ban on gambling leads to an estimated loss of around $300 million annually in tax revenue sent to other states. This figure comes from research conducted by Eilers & Krejcik Gaming, which based its estimates on a hypothetical 10% taxation rate.
Apart from the money Texans wagered outside their state lines, this study highlighted that billions are bet each year. According to Eilers & Krejcik Gaming, Texans place approximately $8 billion worth of bets every year.
This substantial amount underscores the strong demand for gambling options among Texas residents and their readiness to travel across state borders for legal gaming activities. Despite various attempts at reforming local laws, the state has yet to broaden its gambling landscape, leaving many with no choice but to venture into neighboring regions.
